A Weekend of Learning, Perspective, and Growth

Weekends in the club season aren’t always about winning or losing. This past weekend was a key moment, a gentle nudge that growth doesn’t always happen in straight lines and that challenges can be the best teachers.
Premier Academy sent teams out to compete in various fields, both for girls and boys. Even though the results weren’t perfect, the weekend gave us a better understanding of where each team stands in the season and what’s coming next.
Early Season Lessons for Our P25 Teams
For our P25 girls teams, this weekend served as an early-season measuring stick. These groups are still in the formative stages of their season — learning systems, building chemistry, and adjusting to the speed and physicality of tournament play.
· P25 15 Quantum finished 6th in a deep 15 Girls division
· P25 16 Fuji finished 13th in the 16 Girls division
While the win–loss columns don’t tell the story we want yet, these teams are doing the hard work that matters most early: learning how to compete under pressure, understanding the demands of long tournament days, and identifying exactly where growth is needed. These weekends often become the foundation for significant improvement later in the season.
Boys Teams Tested in Tough Fields
On the boys side, the level of competition was extremely high across all divisions — a reality that challenged our teams physically and mentally throughout the weekend.
· Premier 16 NovaBlast finished 17th in 16 Open Boys
· Premier 14 Budokan finished 21st in 14 Open Boys
· Premier 18 Tiger finished 23rd in 18 Open Boys
These fields featured experienced programs and physical matchups that exposed areas we need to continue developing. While the results weren’t favorable, the reps gained in these environments are invaluable. Playing in tough fields is how young teams learn what it takes to compete at higher levels — and those lessons can’t be replicated in practice alone.
Why Weekends Like This Still Matter
It’s important to remember that growth doesn’t always show up immediately on the scoreboard. Some of the most important progress happens quietly — in practice, in weight training, in practice adjustments, and in how athletes respond after adversity.
What's Next?
For this upcoming weekend, Premier will host the MichINOH League Championships for the boy’s teams. Matches will be played on Sunday at Premier Academy and the schedule can be found online.
